2019 Wisconsin USATF Road Champions
(Pewaukee, WI 3/1/2020) Wisconsin USA Track & Field named their state road champions for 2019 at their Semi-Annual Spring Meeting. John Dewitt of West Allis and Tyson Miehe of Darlington were the men’s champions. Gabi Anzalone of Verona and Shaelyn Sorensen of Madison were crowned the women’s champs.
Athletes had to be Wisconsin residents and members of WI USATF in 2019. The champions were selected on the quality of their road race performances over distances ranging from 5 kilometers to 50 miles during the year. Special emphasis was given to USATF National Running Circuit event. Each athlete will receive a $500 stipend to assist them in their future training and competition endeavors.
Dewitt won his fifth consecutive title, while Anzalone is a four time repeat champion. Miehe and Sorensen are both newcomers to the road racing scene as they both graduated from the University of Wisconsin in the spring of 2019. They made an instant impact on the Wisconsin roads in the fall of ’19.

USATF National Annual Meeting Awards
(Reno, NV 12/7/2019) -- USATF honored outstanding contributions by both individual members and regional associations at the Annual Awards Breakfast on Saturday morning as part of 2019 USATF Annual Meeting at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.
Wisconsin USATF garnered two awards at the ceremony.
The Wisconsin Association was awarded the Cross Country Council Award of Merit for its ongoing contributions to the sport of cross country at all levels.
Peter Henkes from the Wisconsin Runner was named the recipient of the Scott Hamilton Memorial Award for his contributions to Men’s Long Distance Running (LDR).This award was established in memory the late Scott Hamilton, a long-time revered pioneer of the sport, to pay tribute to leaders of this discipline.
